In brief. No Trezor model supports VeChain (VET) in Trezor Suite as of September 9, 2026, according to Trezor's own coins page. The official hardware route is a Ledger device connected to VeChain's VeWorld wallet. Ignore any tool that promises to add VET to a Trezor.

Is VeChain supported on Trezor wallet devices? No. As of September 9, 2026, Trezor's official supported-assets page states it plainly: "Currently, Trezor does not support VeChain." That applies to every current model, including the Safe 3, Safe 5, and Safe 7, and there is no VET account type inside Trezor Suite. Below: the dated answer, the storage options that work, and the correct transfer procedures for supported coins.

Support status and source check: September 9, 2026. This is desk research from official Trezor, Ledger, VeChain, and Kraken pages. We did not buy devices or move funds for this article.

Since the Trezor path is closed, here is the decision in one minute.

OptionSelf-custody?Hardware signing?Main trade-off
Ledger device plus VeWorldYesYesRequires buying a Ledger; Nano Gen5 excluded per Ledger's article
VeWorld mobile app or browser extension aloneYesNoKeys live on your phone or computer; higher malware exposure
VeChain on an exchange such as KrakenNoNoThe exchange holds the keys; account and counterparty risk remain
Trezor any modelNot availableNot availableNo VET support; do not send VET to a Trezor Ethereum address

Our choice: if you hold a meaningful amount of VET long term, a Ledger device paired with VeWorld is the strongest option, because the keys stay offline while VeWorld gives you native access to VET, VTHO, staking, and VeChain tokens. For smaller, active balances, the VeWorld app alone is the practical pick. For wider hardware comparisons, see our best hardware wallet 2026 roundup and Ledger Nano X review.

Why Trezor does not support VeChain

Trezor hardware wallets support hundreds of coins and tokens, some natively in Trezor Suite and some through third-party apps, per Trezor's supported coins explainer. VeChain is on neither list, and Trezor's dedicated VeChain page says so directly.

The reason is structural, not a settings problem. VeChain runs on its own blockchain, VeChainThor. A hardware wallet supports a coin only when the maker builds that chain into its firmware and software. Trezor has not done that for VeChainThor, so Trezor Suite cannot generate a VET account, and there is nothing to enable, update, or unlock on your side.

Field noteWhat the official page showed

Trezor's VeChain asset page displayed a single sentence: "Currently, Trezor does not support VeChain." It also advised past users of the asset to contact support through the official chat. No workaround, beta, or third-party app path was mentioned.

A Trezor for your other coins stands on its own merits; our Trezor wallet review covers what the devices do well. It will not cover VET.

The official hardware route: Ledger and VeWorld

VeChain's official wallet is VeWorld, available as a mobile app and a Chrome browser extension, and Ledger maintains a current support article for it. According to Ledger's VeWorld guide, last updated May 13, 2026, the setup works like this:

  1. Install the latest Ledger Wallet app (formerly Ledger Live) and update your device firmware.
  2. In Ledger Wallet, open My Ledger, connect and unlock the device, then find VeChain (VET) in the App catalog and click Install.
  3. Install the VeWorld extension, choose Get Started, and set a password.
  4. Under Getting Started, select Hardware Wallet, unlock your Ledger, and open the VeChain app. The device shows "Application is ready."
  5. Select Ledger, choose your device, click Connect, then pick your account and Unlock.

Ledger's article lists the Nano S, Nano S Plus, Nano X, Flex, and Stax as compatible, and states the connection does not work with the Nano Gen5. We did not run this setup ourselves; treat the linked article as the authority.

VeWorld mobile and browser wallet

Used without a Ledger, VeWorld is a self-custody hot wallet. The official VeWorld site describes managing VET, VTHO, B3TR, NFTs, and other VeChain tokens in one place, with fee delegation that removes gas fees and optional social logins. VeChain's StarGate staking runs natively inside VeWorld as well.

The trade-off is the device itself. A phone or laptop that browses the web exposes your keys to malware that a hardware wallet avoids. On either route, write the recovery phrase on paper or metal and keep it offline; our seed phrase storage guide covers that process.

Leaving VET on an exchange

Keeping VET on Kraken or another exchange is the zero-setup option, and for small trading balances it can be reasonable. The exchange holds the private keys, so you carry account-takeover, withdrawal-freeze, and counterparty risk. If you keep funds there, enable every account protection the exchange offers, and read our digital wallet scam guide before trusting any message about your account. For long-term holdings, self-custody removes the middleman.

How to transfer crypto to a Trezor wallet

For the coins Trezor does support, the transfer process follows the same pattern, per Trezor's official receive guide.

  1. 01

    Pick the account

Open the Trezor Suite account for the exact network the sender will use.

  2. 02

    Copy the address

Use the Receive form. Tokens share the address of their network's account.

  3. 03

    Verify on the device

Compare the pasted address against the one on the Trezor screen.

  4. 04

    Test, then send

Send a small amount first, confirm it arrives, then move the rest.

The device screen is the trusted checkpoint. Malware on your computer can swap a copied address, but it cannot change what the Trezor displays.

Two details from Trezor's guide deserve emphasis. Each account maps to one network, and an asset sent on the wrong network can be lost permanently. And the critical step is the screen check, because clipboard malware exists to swap addresses between copy and paste. The device does not need to stay connected to receive funds.

How to move crypto from Kraken to a cold wallet

Kraken's official deposit and withdrawal guide lays out the flow. The same steps apply whether your cold wallet is a Trezor, a Ledger, or another device.

  1. Get and verify the receive address

Open your hardware wallet's official app, pick the account on the correct network, and copy the receive address. Verify it on the device screen as described above.

  2. Add the address in Kraken

In your Portfolio, select the currency, tap Withdraw, and enter the amount. In Withdraw To, choose Enter a new address, select the network, give the address a unique label, and paste it. Kraken warns that different cryptocurrencies can share the same address format, so confirm the asset and network match your wallet. Never type an address by hand.

  3. Confirm the address

Depending on your device, Kraken approves a new address automatically or emails you a confirmation link that expires within one hour. Complete that step before withdrawing.

  4. Review the fee and send a test

Check the withdrawal fee and minimum shown in the form before you confirm. Send a small test withdrawal first. Once it arrives on your hardware wallet, send the rest to the same verified address.

Edge cases and common mistakes

You already sent VET to your Trezor. People do this because VET and Ethereum address formats look alike. The funds sit at that address on the VeChainThor network, which the Trezor cannot sign for. Ledger publishes recovery guides for VET sent to an Ethereum address and for VET sent over the wrong chain, linked from its VeWorld article. Follow official recovery documentation only, and never give your seed phrase to anyone offering to "recover" the funds.

An old article or video says VET works on Trezor. Support lists change in both directions. Trust the live trezor.io/coins page over dated third-party content, including this article after September 2026.

A "support agent" contacts you first. Real Trezor, Ledger, Kraken, and VeChain support never send unsolicited direct messages, and none of them need your recovery phrase. That request ends the conversation.

You matched the coin but not the network. Kraken lets some assets withdraw on multiple networks. The network you pick at Kraken must match the network of the receiving account, or the funds can be unrecoverable.

VeChain and Trezor questions

Will Trezor add VeChain support?

Trezor has announced no such plan, and its official coins page said VeChain is not supported as of September 9, 2026. Support decisions sit with the device maker, not with VeChain holders. If that changes, the live trezor.io/coins page will show it before any blog does.

Where can I store VET safely?

The strongest option is a compatible Ledger device connected to VeChain's official VeWorld wallet, which keeps keys offline. VeWorld alone is a reasonable hot wallet for smaller amounts. Exchange custody is the simplest option but leaves the keys with the exchange.

Does VeWorld work with Ledger?

Yes. Ledger's support article, last updated May 13, 2026, covers connecting VeWorld to the Nano S, Nano S Plus, Nano X, Flex, and Stax. The article states it does not work with the Nano Gen5. You install the VeChain app on the device, then choose the Hardware Wallet option in VeWorld.

How do I withdraw from Kraken to a hardware wallet?

In your Kraken Portfolio, select the currency, tap Withdraw, and add a new withdrawal address with the correct network selected and a unique label. Confirm the address by email if prompted, review the fee, then send a small test withdrawal before the full amount. Verify the receive address on your device's screen first.

What network is VET on?

VET is the native coin of the VeChainThor blockchain. It is not an ERC-20 token, which is why Ethereum addresses on a Trezor cannot receive it. When withdrawing VET from an exchange, select the VeChain network, not an Ethereum-compatible one.

Can I use a Trezor and still hold VET?

Yes, with two wallets. Keep your Trezor-supported coins on the Trezor and your VET in VeWorld, ideally paired with a Ledger. One seed phrase cannot make a Trezor sign VeChainThor transactions.
